Last weekend we took part at the first round of the 2019 Italian E-Enduro Championship, which took place in Alassio, located in the region of Liguria, about 35 kilometers from Finale Ligure.

About 170 registered riders, including many strong riders such as Marco Aurelio Fontana (in his new adventure after many years racing XC), Andrea Garibbo (current CHAMPION of the circuit), Simone Martinelli, Nicola Casadei, Davide Sottocornola, Marco Milivinti and Vittorio Gambirasio; all well known names ready to afford this new challenge riding ebikes and aiming for conquering the final podium.

The Race course

Saturday as usual is the official practice day, where riders try the stages, without any shuttle, just pedalling and following the full race path. The race consisted of 4 special stages, all different but united by being physical and long.

Stage 1 very cycled and with several steep uphill section, Stage 2 with its 3300 meters of length and a wonderful final part of descent overlooking the sea, stage 3 with a mix of all and Stage 4 that was the most gravity one.

A total route of 30 kilometers with about 1600 meters of overall difference in level, a time check in the middle of the race where was permitted to repair any damage but above all the chance of recharging batteries for 45 minutes. A sunny weather has accompanied all the week before the race, delivering very dry trails for this competition.

At the end of the 4 special stages, the overall race victory went to Andrea Garibbo (HAIBIKE FACTORY TEAM ITALIA), followed by Simone Martinelli (CICOBIKES-DSB-NONSOLOFANGO) and to complete the podium in third position Davide Sottocornola (CICOBIKES-DSB-NONSOLOFANGO). Among the women Laura Rossin (SOUL CYCLES RACING TEAM) triumphs, followed by Jessica Bormolini (SIGNOR LUPO ASD) and Chiara Pastore (TEAM LOCCA).

Next appointment on 26/27 of April with the second round, that will take place in the wonderful Isle of Elba, jewel of the Tuscan Archipelago. Stay tuned !!!
